After deciding that Ibuypower was too much of a hit-or-miss operation, I am now looking at the Uniwill 258KA that is for sale at Mwave.com. I currently am looking at the following specifications:

(*Free 4-month Download Subscription PLUS 12 FREE Songs from Napster w/Purchase! )
MWAVE N258KA (AMD Athlon 64 Mobile)
15.4" WXGA/ATI M11P 128MB/MODEM/LAN/3-in-1 CARD READER/3xUSB 2.0/1xIEEE 1394 (4-MONTH SUBSCRIPTION COUPON; ATHLON 64 MOBILE 3400; 512MB DDR; 60GB (5400RPM) HDD; DVD/CDRW COMBO; MS XP HOME)

Some questions I have include: Is the ATI M11P the Radeon 9700 PRO? What brand of memory is this? What brand HD is this, and is Mwave.com a good company and what is there returns and warranty policies?

Hey Gusty,

I've had limited experience with MWave 4-5 years ago when they were operating out of a warehouse in City of Industry, CA. I used to will call all my stuff from them. Its a pretty typical asian internet computer supplier with pretty decent pricing and OK customer service. the M11P is the Radeon Mobility 9700 Pro. Despite its name, it is basically a Mobility 9600 Pro at higher clock speeds. You'd have to ask what hard drive and memory they stick in the laptop, as they probably just purchase the laptop in bulk whitebook.

Check their website for their return and warranty policy. I have a Uniwill 258SA0 (the older P4 model with a Mobility 9600) and the unit is pretty solid, pretty pleased with it so far, except for the battery life (duh) and the heat output (double duh).

Hope you find the laptop you're looking for!

Mwave is top notch. We buy all kinds of stuff through work with them and have purchased lots of stuff myself with them.

Well - I just had two good hits with ibuypower.com. In fact, their reseller ratings are better than Dell or emachines.
