Looks like they are trying to develop OpenCL GPU apps, developed on AMD cards, using double precision (my fleet of R9-280's shiver with delight from inside their storage boxes). Nvidia cards should be able to run this as well, once optimized for them.

Task times should drop from 2h CPU to at most 6m GPU, or 90seconds on the faster cards. :)

Maybe someday I'll be able to regain my TeAm #1 from Fardringle. Gasp! That sneaky Silverthorne has likewise passed me! Well done Gents. ;)

Code:
AMD Radeon HD 7850 increase in the speed of the calculation for each feature will be from 20 to 80 times compared to the Core i5 3470 3.9GHz ..

Quick tip in case anyone has forgotten, if you're looking to crunching Universe: Unless something has changed, LINUX systems are FAR more efficient on this project.

Well Double Precision with AMD cards, they are hit less since they don't have to sell Tesla's, Quadros, etc.
Nvidia's DP performance is 1/32 of Single Performance no matter how much you optimise for Nvidia, because its capped.
AMD performance however its 1/4 of Single Performance with the 280x and 1/8 of Single Performance for the 290x
