Looks like they are trying to develop OpenCL GPU apps, developed on AMD cards, using double precision (my fleet of R9-280's shiver with delight from inside their storage boxes). Nvidia cards should be able to run this as well, once optimized for them.
Task times should drop from 2h CPU to at most 6m GPU, or 90seconds on the faster cards.
