Need to migrate an old install to another PC. They are both older MBR types...Windows 10 OS. Would it be best to use Universal Restore or does Windows do a better job being transfered these days?

Well you can always try the straight up way, windows 10 is pretty good at booting into strange hardware, but you might get some weird behavior down the road.
If you can do a universal restore (restore to dissimilar) , it would be a much safer bet.

Try uninstalling all the drivers in safe mode and then shut it down and normal boot on new hardware. Hopefully, should work. Only issue is that Windows may not activate. I had to use an unused license I had when I moved from Z77 mobo to Z97.

If you are moving to new hardware that has a UEFI bios, it is best to convert to a GPT format.

All good advice. What hardware are you moving to/from? What are the specs of the different computers, and does the new one have the same license? What is the reason for the move?

Also, some backup programs like Acronis have the option to do a universal restore kind of option, where the new drivers can be injected into the old OS to ensure smoother booting/operation. All this said, I would recommend making a full backup first in case something goes wrong with the OS when you try to move it over.
