Universal remote control

I'm thinking of getting a Sony touchscreen universal remote, to control my TV, VCR, cable box, DVD player, and home theater. I know a normal universal remote would possibly work, but I like the interface and functions of this one.

Has anyone used or own this, and how is it?

I tried that remote for a limited time but was not happy with it or the price. I ended up (satisfied) by going with the JBL TC1000, a similar touchscreen. Was on sale at ecost for $99.

Check over at Remote Central for a review and more info than you could ever want to know about the remote. Be sure to check the forums as well. Great site.

I just picked up the Home Theater Master remote and I am loving it. Even controls my Tivo which few remotes will do.

<< That's a lot of money for a freaking remote :p >>

That is the MSRP. I've seen it for a lot cheaper.

Maybe I'll check that one out then.

Regardless, $100, or even $20, for something that comes free with the device you are using is just crazy. I'll keep the money and juggle the remotes (besides, we have four remotes in our upstairs living room, and I could use each of them to run the other three devices if I wanted to, so its not even needed in my case).

The Home Theatre Master remote looks bad. The design imho sucks.

Got your point. I have five, but each one only works for one thing. The cable remote can only turn on the TV and VCR, and adjust volume, but that's it. I also live in a studio apartment so there is not much room on my small table to hold 5 remotes.

yeah well a lexus gets you to the same place in the same time as a yugo. The lexus just makes it easier on you. Same with remotes. If you dont have the spare cash or wantingness to drop that much, then dont. its not "crazy" though.

Well I personally like the pronto line of remotes.... and the upgradability is a VERY nice feature to have. When I build my theater, it will be run on the graphic eye lighting system and use a pronto...
