Simple question that will probably get some mixed views :)

But, with millions of people who can't afford or don't receive health care in the U.S., would you support Universal Health Care?

No, I don't support Universal Health Care. Neither my fault nor my problem that some people don't have health insurance...in other words, I like my paycheck and prefer to keep it.

Would you want the same type of people that run the postal service to be in charge of your healthcare?

Why not? The postal service is one example of something that works well in the US.

The post office is not a government entity anymore.

Universal Health Care is a good idea in practice and if the US would stop giving BIllions of dollars in aide to foreign countries, and spent it here it would work, and prob boost the economy.

I'm all for it, but there are certainly pros and cons.

Most definitely. We're the richest nation in the world by far, can spend over $200 billion on rebuilding Iraq (will most likely be the end value, if not more), and we can't give every American health care?

Sounds good in theory, but I cant imagine the regulatory nightmare. Something called HIPPA is going into effect. Literally thousands of pages of requirements. Unbelievable. Intended to save 20 billion dollars in health care costs. Unfortunately the best guess is the health care industry is going to have to spend 60 billion to comply. Nice savings. This is just to safeguard patient health information. Astounding.

Yes, because we're the greatest nation in the world with the most money at are disposal, we'd surely mess up in giving healthcare to our population.

Do you have any idea how much this will cost? Imagine Defense, Social Security, and all current entitlements rolled up into one. That should start it off.

Yea...searched for the topic before, no results...

But, its going to be a big issue in this upcoming election. A lof of the Dems are going to be pushing for it. Its going to be a nightmare for Bush to debate against it (as if the upcoming pres debates wont already be a nightmare for bush)...."well...no I don't think everyone should get health-care"

Oh, but it is your problem. If some uninsured shmuck gets SARS doesn't go see a doctor, and sits next to you on a plane, now it's a problem for you. Would you preffer to keep your paycheck or your life in that situation?

You're probably one of those people that support the war, preaching that it is about Iraqi liberation. Nice to see you don't want to liberate the unfortunate in your own nation. Rich get richer, the poor can just go lay down and die.

If my guess is wrong, then I apologize for the generalization.

Interesting thought. I persoanlly don't support Univeral Healthcare, b/c then the govt starts to control more and more... kinda like how Sadam controlled more and more of Iraq until it was a dictaorship..

And yes I supported the war. I don't see UHC as freeing our people, I see it as controlling them. They made whatever choices they did to get where they are in life. JMO

Perhaps, but then Bush can say "OK, lets wee what we have to do to get that. Health care costs in 2002 is going to be around 1.5 trillion dollars. All we have to do is increase taxes compensate" He then shows how everyones taxes roughly double, and the increase is open ended. Projected costs for 2012 is 3.1 trillion. It can be done of course, but with 2001 costs being 13% of GDP, that is a helluva tax bill to hand someone.

Yes I support the war however, if you want to see my support for the war try the War Forum.

When you boil it UHC down to its basic tenets, it's just another piece of socialism. I am opposed to socialism, be it in the form of the UHC, SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, or any other nice PC sounding names people come up with for wealth redistribution. I have no problem with the poor, just keep your hands out of my wallet (I'm not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination).
