A big F U to Dark Tower fans. To be honest, I'm more excited about Dark Tower than I was Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings coming to movies 10 years ago.

Plus, in one of the later books there's a scene with Stephen King himself, if it takes 20 more years to get this done it may not be possible for him to play himself.

Update that I somehow missed until now:

Apparently Warner Bros picked it up!

This is one the few movies I would go to the theater to see.

SyFy original, right after the premier of Giant Squidersauraus versus Reptilion Shark-Man.

only apt to compare a stephen king book to harry potter- they're on about the same reading level.

here an idea- make an ORIGINAL movie, instead of converting other properties.

Good catch; as I skimmed through the titles, my first thought was Richard Dawson, and I was thinking "meh." It did decent at the box office though.

I don't know man. you probably don't want Stephen King showing up in the film. dude is a disaster

..let alone touching that screenplay--guaranteed bomb. Nothing of his that has been put into film, that he has had input on, has been good.

great for creating stories and ideas, but keep him away from the camera and the set....and the editing room. ;)

I'm glad about this. The Dark Tower could never be a 2 hour movie. A "The Stand" length miniseries maybe, but never 2 hours.

Yea, the first four books are pretty damn great, but the last three are just a complete waste of time. Besides, with Ron "Vanilla" Howard at the helm, it was doomed from the start.

Could be worse, they could get Spielberg to do it. Or George Lucas. :vomit:

This should be a disaster. Actor choice is already pretty bad. One of the things that should remain in your mind's eye. Especially since your mind can block out everything after Wizard and Glass...

QFT

No way they should have made MOST of the SK movies just 2 hours long. The guy writes way too much detail into his stories, and you simply can't get that much in 2 hours.

You MIGHT be able to fit each of the seven books into a 3-hour movie, but even then, you'd be skipping a lot of detail (can you imagine Hollywood trying to fit Blaine the Monorail into a 3-minute blurb? ).

It was supposed to be Movie, TV show season, movie, tv show season, one last movie to wrap things up.

That was the original, as-visioned project approach to the entire DT series. Apparently, there is little hope for this to happen still, which is sad. :(

For some odd reason I picture Karl Urban as a good pick for Roland. I kind of likened his look Dark Hat in "Priest" to what I always thought Roland should like (at least in the original book). If he were a bit older looking it would be better.
OR someone completely new. I am not sure who else would be good for the role of Roland.
