Universal CPU Coolers

Are there any cpu coolers that work with not only Athlon XP but Athlon 64 processors? If they are what are the names of some good ones?

if you go to this link and scroll all the way down, newegg has already classified the coolers according to which sockets are compatible

The XP-120 is considered the best heatsink, and does come in a s478 and s754 designs, however I'm not sure if they're interchangable.

The XP-120 dose not work with socket A. 478 is P4, I don't remember what 754 is.....

If it fits get the Zalman.

Thank you for your replies I had a chance to talk with a friend and he said that the aerocool HT-101 is really good for both Athlon XP and 64. Although the box said it was for AMD Athlon 3600+ and Athlon 64 do you think it still would work for my AMD Athlon 2500+?

Yeah, you should be fine. Just look into how it's installed I'm guessing it used the 4 mounting holes through the MB due to weight, make sure your board is combatable.

I'd still go with the Zalman however.

Hmm... Seems I'm becoming a hypocrite - apparantly I didn't read the original post properly 🙂. For some reason I was thinking you wanted coolers that work for p4 and a64 (s754 is for first generation athlon 64s - the latest are s939). For XP and a64, yes, the Zalman is probably best.
