Universal charger for laptop? wise buy?

I have a Toshiba A105-S1014 and my charger was recently lost on a trip. I see here that they have a universal laptop charger for $27.00.

I called Toshiba and for a new charger it costs about $75.

Would the universal charger work correctly? I have always heard that you should use your laptop's chargers and not use "other" types of chargers. Anybody have more insight on this.

I'm wary of generic power supplies. You probably don't want to feed yourself dubious food, no need to feed your PC anything questionable. Check out eBay. This one lists your laptop as being compatible. Shop around there for the power supply's part number too.

I'm also wary of a generic power supply charging a lithium ion battery. I know enough about lithium ion batteries to know that they need to be charged very carefully, or else they can overheat or catch fire.

The Targus universal works well. I have used it on 3 different brands of laptop, and it caused no problems. It comes with a full set of changeable plug tips - those vary by OEM.

But, in the log run, try and find a branded replacement for your Toshiba on E-Bay.
