Seems like everything 1U on Newegg is made for specific SuperMicro motherboards or come with crap Atom C200 barebones - meaning no changeable ATX IO panel and often proprietary power/reset wiring. Most of the reviews point out specific problems with compatible rails and other issues.

I found one Mini-ITX model on Monoprice, but I'd prefer a full-depth 1U case for the flexibility - and most of my extraneous PC gear is mATX and ATX. Maybe I'm being too picky?

I've got 42U to work with, but it's going to fill up fast between other servers and other networking and AV equipment.

Newegg isn't a great resource for server cases. Supermicro makes a variety of standard ATX compatible rack mount cases.

If you don't NEED new, I'd buy a used one on eBay for dirt cheap (comparatively) and then toss in components of your choosing. If you want new, Superbiiz has a decent selection. Use Supermicro's website to find either a barebones case that takes ATX if you're buying new, or look for complete system that are using one of their ATX boards.
