Have you ever heard of anyone getting a gift card or check?

Not me personally because I've never been bumped from any flight even I flew a lot but this woman and her family made some good money ($11K, not travel vouchers, per her claim) - https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurab...-to-fly-to-florida-this-weekend/#423131624de1

I only received miles from the airlines because of delays (several) and cancellation (once) due to weather and mechanical issue. No money for me. <snip..snip>

I don't mean to sound like an asshole but if a fuckload of people on my flight just got injured from turbulence because they didn't have their seatbelts on, my friggen seatbelt wouldn't be coming off till we hit ground and rolled to a stop.

I'm surprised people don't have their seat belts on when they're not moving about the cabin. It's kinda like being a passenger in the car, why wouldn't you be safer when you can be with seat belts on? You never know when some retard asshole will hit the car you are a passenger in just like you don't know when unexpected turbulence happens. Been on enough flights where it has occurred out of the blue.

I couldn't agree more, sometimes I will loosen it a bit after takeoff and tighten it before landing but if I'm sitting my seatbelt is on.

At first I was going to say that instead of getting kicked off the plane maybe the guy could have caved and held the baby but then I read it was an overnight flight from Hawaii to LA so I can't blame him one bit.

And why the hell did he have to pay for other tickets and Delta is just now offering a refund? I thought it was mandatory that they refund you, book you on the next flight, and compensate you for hotels and such. Regardless, it's fucked up. He paid for the seat and was already on the plane and they wanted him to give it up for someone on standby, you would have thought they would have learned from the United incident. Guy should have forced them to drag him off so he could score millions.

The guy bought the ticket for that seat from another passenger, not delta. Hence, no contract with the airline. I see his logic but he probably won't get a dime from delta.

According to the news the seat was not purchased from another passenger, but it was originally purchased from Delta for his older son. Later on they sent the older son away in another flight, so that they could use that seat for the baby.

No, he purchased the ticket from Delta just for a different member of his family that took a different flight instead.

We still jerking off to airline incidents?

Let's shift focus on the TSA imposing the rule to pull damn near everything out of your carry-on bag.

Yeaaaaaah...I'm flying a bunch over the next 4 months, and my next couple of flights are United, which (on my tickets, at least) only allow a carry-on (you have to pay for baggage). Fortunately I pack light (work laptop, clothes, buy toiletries & stuff when I arrive) so I can do everything in a backpack, but it's going to be a huge pain in the neck.

If it's such a pain, why not just pay the fee to take a fuckin' suitcase?

The TSA has been running a lot of trials at various airports lately where they make you take a lot more stuff out like all paper products, all electronics larger than a cell phone, all food etc. Supposedly new rules are coming soon and will make you take more stuff out but its unclear how much more stuff you'll need to take out of your bag

Is there a discount for the voluntary strip search, and with bonus for cavity search?

I thought they had already done everything in their power to make flying as shitty as possible. Nice to see they're pushing the envelope and working so hard to make things even shittier. I hate complacency!
