Paying to guarantee the pension funds of the top execs even if they go bankrupt. Oh, and some nice exec bonuses as well.

yeap. basically they cut the low end workers to sustain the top end exec salaries and bonuses.

I'll just assume it's the typical brand of our decadence and corruption. Milk it for all it's worth while more of us wind up bottom feeders who'll probably never again be able to afford health insurance or a new car no matter how hard we work.

United can go F themselves up their stupid asses. Had to fly with them regularly for all of 2003 out to Austin. It was never pleasant. This year we fly there on American, and thank god. I can actually fit in the seats!

I disagree. I find United to have the best customer service while American just "gets by." I flew American last week and they were unorganized, slow to take off, and did some weird manuevers while we were in flight. We were sitting near the ticket agent, and 3 seperate people had tickets of someone else while getting on the plane. Each one was an eticket that the ticket counter screwed up.

boarding and pushing away from the gate were really slow and not at all on time. They seemed to bank alot harder than other airlines as well. To kill time, the pilot put the plane in a 15 degree bank and went in a circle. I have never seen that before. He just stayed in a bank for about 5 minutes. It was not even a holding pattern. I dunno what it was.

Respectfully, I've probably flown United more times in the last year than you were even in an airport, respectfully. :) American is a much better airline, believe me.

i don't fly united or american, but i fly southwest and america west pretty regularly. southwest has gone downhill. they're banking on their good name now. america west is my favorite airline to fly now. excellent service. oh, i fly continental every now and then. i hate them. they suck worse then all other airlines combined.

AA seems to have better leg and hip room in thier seats than UA. I just flew UA last week and I was rubbing next to the guy in the seat beside me the whole time. And neither of us were that big. It was rather uncomfortable for the 4 hours that the flight lasted. Flying American the same flight was much better.

UA definitely has less room than AA, however their staff is infinitely more helpful. On UA, you can request an upgrade and have it happen if you time it right, as I can attest to. For AA, the only way to be upgraded is to be a gold, platinum, moissanite, or kryptonite member of AAdvantage.

UA was very accomdating in my flights with them, and so I will stick with them. :D
