Unintalling MSN Messenger without breaking MSN & other software?

I'm stuck with MSN 8 software because other people in the house use it. Through a registry fix, I had just managed to stop Windows Messenger (the one that comes with XP) from loading with Outlook Express. Now, MSN Messenger (came with MSN 8) loads whenever I go to Hotmail or other MS website in Internet Explorer, and it refuses to unload until I restart the computer.

Not even the MSN 8 users in my house use MSN Messenger, so I was wondering if there was a way to uninstall it or at least keep it from loading, without breaking the MSN 8 software?

No. MSN Messenger is considered a critical component of MSN8. Without it, MSN8 will refuse launch...and it will even tell you that it cannot because Messenger is missing.

Messenger is very heavily integrated with MSN8. It is less integrated with Hotmail, but integrated nonetheless. So it runs automatically when you logon to a hotmail account, and because Hotmail's API's are tied directly into Messenger, Hotmail refuses to let you exit Messenger while you are logged on to your Hotmail account.

Exiting Messenger is as simple as logging off Hotmail first. You don't need to restart the computer to get rid of it.
