unInstallShield preventing program install

I am trying to install a database program from a W2K server to a WNT4.0 workstation and keep getting the message that the installation cannot continue because the unInstallShield is still running and must be shutdown. Any ideas? It's listed nowhere in the task manager. I've completed the installation on a number of other workstations (NT and 95/98) with no problems so I believe it's specific to this machine. Thanks for any comments.

Reboot and then do it, it'll close all open programs, and unless you have it in the startup for some reason it won't be open.
 
I've already rebooted many times to no avail. I think its being activated when the machine starts up or is being referred to by windows on startup.
