Uninstalling Windows 98

I just set up a new system with Windows 98. I think I created some extraneous files while dealing with a CD-ROM set up problem, and these files are now making Windows 98 boot slowly.

The system is only a few days old and I haven't saved any significant work on it, so I'm thinking about just reformatting my HDD to remove everything from it, then installing Windows 98 again. Now that the CD-ROM is cabled correctly, I expect Windows to install smoothly this time.

Any tips on how I should go about reformatting my HDD? I thought about starting the system in DOS mode, then reformatting the drive, thus going back to a clean slate. After that, I'd restart the system with my Windows 98 boot disk and reinstall Windows. Does this sound feasible?
