Uninstalling fan from geforce card

What is the safest way to remove a fan that is glued on to the chip of a video card?? I purchased a new fan for my Creative Annihilator Pro, but the stock fan is stuck to the chip. I've heard that you can stick it in the freezer for like half an hour to make the glue brittle and then just rip it off, but that makes me nervous for obvious reasons...
Isn't there an easier way to accomplish this without seeing my life flash before my eyes??

Glued? I'd try to (very gently) pry it of with a wooden something, just make sure you apply pressure between GPU and fan, not fan and card (as you could potentially loosen the GPU. Shouldn't stick to hard. Anyways, the refrig trick...Don't know about that one, but there should be no sweat...
OWN RISK THOUGH...
