Uninstallers

Do they really work or snake oil ? (Don't do what they say) For example Revo Uninstaller?

Is it worth buying the more advanced pro version ?

I've never had a need for a special uninstalling program. OP, why do you ask, is there a specific problem you're having?

I have never found them useful, but I try not to install anything shady from the dark corners of the web.

For testing at work we use free registry snapshot software to see what changes a program makes to the registry when it installs and runs, but for that testing we use disposable virtual machines that we can restore to the old state from a backup once we're done.

I'll third the Revo suggestion. It's what we use at work for those rare situations where you have a program that won't uninstall.

If dealing with video drivers one needs DDU.
With the windoze uninstaller I have seen way too many folders and files left behind. This says nothing about what is left in the registry.

I've 'dealt' with video drivers on many occasions spanning decades and I've never found a use for DDU. I'm sure that someone somewhere has found that it's fixed a problem for them, but let's try to avoid hyperbolic comments.

Well, if the OP's complaint is related to tidiness rather than an actual problem, then you may be on-point, but registry entries that do nothing without a program actually querying them are basically using up a drop in the ocean of the average amount of system memory available these days.

I just dealt with an instance where the AMD removal tool did not completely remove the driver. ( switched to Nvidia) This caused the mouse to get jumpy and some scrolling problems. After DDU these went away
