Uninstall Win 98?

I am building a machine for my daughter. I have Win 98 and all her apps on it. I just got a copy of Win 98 SE and don't want to install it over Win 98. Do I have to format and reinstall everything? Or is there a way to uninstall Win 98, keep the apps and install Win 98 SE?

You should just be able to stick the 98se CD in there and basically do and update to the OS without destroying any apps.

BTW, 98se isnt much different over 98 so if it's not necessary I would say why bother.
