WinMe is the retarded offspring of an incestuous coupling betwixt 98 and 00 which is good if you intend to dual boot or go with 00 exclusively when it and 3rd party drivers are ready. I don't consider it an "upgrade" it's just that I have it handy and wanted to do a clean install of 9x. Removing the extraneous crap and turning off all the automatic crap does not stop it from being ME because it's really all about the look of it. The only useful addition is the restore system. In fact, the whole thing just looks like a scheme to reduce support costs for box makers. It's galling that they are going to sell retail "upgrades" for more than $50. It irritates me when crap is installed without my permission and even worse when there is no uninstall option. You have to edit the OS cab files before installation to avoid most of it.
I was given the option to install MovieMaker during my "custom" install. Have you checked under Add/Remove on the Windows components (not the first tab that shows)?
