Unified drivers for Nforce2 chipsets, Win2k vs WinXP

I've heard that WinXP is basically a prettied-up version of 2k and that drivers generally that work on XP also work with 2k.

Anyway, I'm trying to download the latest drivers for an Nforce2 chipset motherboard, and the XP drivers are newer than the 2k drivers. Here's some links 2k Driver, XP Driver. As you can see, the 2k driver set is listed as version 4.27, and the XP is 5.10. The GART (what is that?) and the IDE driver are update for the XP revision. When you download the 2k drivers the filename is "nForce_4.27_WinXP2K_WHQL_english.exe" and the XP link downloads "nForce_5.10_WinXP2K_WHQL_english.exe". So from the file's name it seems they're supposed to be for either or, but I'm curious why they don't link the 5.10's for the 2k link on their site.

I'm more curious than anything as I realize it probably won't be a big diff between the two. If anybody can answer any of my questions I'd appreciate it =)

Thanks

Edit - This also is of issue for me since I do NOT have a copy of WinXP and I have a Creative Labs SB X-Fi sound card, and their drivers are only for WinXP, so they say. I've rooted through their isntall software in the past though and found just the basic driver install file and it was able to install the drivers and they worked just fine as far as I could tell with my Win2k system.
