Question Unifi AP Pro access point not accessible but working. Port 8080 is used.

Hi,

I have a Unifi AP Pro access point which is working fine except that I can't access it anymore using its controller software like I used to. It says port 8080 is used by other programs. I tried to search for a solution but couldn't. I tried to see if port is actually being used by something so that I can stop it and then try again but I didn't succeed. This is what the controller software shows:

How do you know if port 8080 is actually being used by your windows machine anyways? I used netstat command and this is what I got:

Does this mean that device 192.168.1.108 is using it? This is actually my printer and I turned it off but it didn't help.

Whatever this thing that is using port 8080 I want to kill it and check with the controller again. How do I do that? Can you help?


Also, and I can barely remember this from one class I took, An IP address and a port is a socket and you can use the same port number with another ip address, right? If this is the case why would one device not be able to use port 8080 if it has a different ip address?

This is neat. I like it. It turned out to be bitdefender agent that is using the port, but how come it didn't show in netstat? I don't want to kill that.

I actually solved the problem by some other way. I changed the port the unifi controller uses to 9191 using this video:

It worked. Thanks to all.

good ole bit defender. I demo'd that for a few months way back probably 6-7 years ago. Dropped it as soon as my network speed started taking a hit.

What are you using now? I'm paying for bitdefender for 3 devices because it proved to be effective when it saved me from a nasty ransomware attack 3 years ago. Bitdefender somehow made a decrypt tool and I got all my files back. I told myself they deserve my money since they saved me one time.

I use pihole and windows defender 🙂

Sites that I would be suspicious of probably aren’t gonna be visited from my pc. I’ll use my phone for that, which also goes thru pihole. I have two pihole that are my main DNS for two vlans.
