"Unidentified operating system on drive c:" at boot up...

Hey...

I was re-installing my os. I formatted with my win98 SE boot disk. When I re-installed Win2k, I get a boot loader on startup that says:

Windows 2000 Professional
Unidentified Operating System on Drive c:

When I select 2k, everything is fine. When I select the Unidentified Operating System on Drive c:, I get a win98 comand prompt. Any way I can get rid of this? I don't want this...

thanks for any help!

Win2K is seeing the dos files and is giving you the option to boot to it. Just go into properties of My Computer and click on Start Up and Recovery. Uncheck the box "Display list of operating systems for 30 seconds"

Thanks Wik,

I will try tonight when I get home from work...

any other suggestions? how to edit boot loader??

ran into this problem after using partion magic 6.0
even formatting and using win2k setup from bootable cd (not floppy) this would happen
fixed it by running fdisk and repartioning and fdisk /mbr
