Against my better judgment, I purchased a Uniden wireless NIC to hook up one of my computers to my US Robotics Wireless network. Every time I try to set up a connection on the Uniden machine, it immediately resets my WEP key back to some default key that is not the right number of digits under 64 bit or 128 bit either ASCII or HEX encryption. As a result I cannot connect. Nothing I have tried gets it to keep the key I put in it. I'm using XP, which doesn't help, because most of my ability to tinker is not available in XP. Anyone have any ideas?

Nothing yet. I can't find any info on this problem on their "support" page. There are a lot of WEP options for 98 and 2000, but for XP, supposedly it's so smooth that you don't need those options. . . I get a connection and I get the icon to show a connection, but I get no internet and no lan connection. I do get lots of free irritation though. :|

I've never had to use the XP utility for wireless, so I'm not sure how to get around the problem. I do know that too much hand holding is bad for your health, and that's XP's specialty! :D

Well... I turned my USR8054 into just an access point and made my old SMC barricade the DHCP server. That, and then doing the same things about 10 times finally seems to have done the trick. It makes no sense whatsoever, and I don't know if it will work the next time I boot up, but it's working for now.
