..who would have thought. There he is in his plywood shack reading algore books and using excerpts in his manifesto. So mabe he was inspired to bomb after reading the algore book?? How many more maniacal eco-theist followers does algore have??

Each quote below is either from Al Gore's Book Earth in the Balance or from the Unabomber's Manifesto.

After each quote choose either Gore or Unabomber. At the end hit the Grade Me button and the quiz will be graded and you can view the correct answers. You will also have the opportunity to view the documentation. To be fair, I should point out that while Al and the Unabomber identify the "problems" similarly, they part on the solution. Al wants a "Global Marshall Plan" with enforcement across national boundaries while the Unabomber prefers the idea of revolution.

This is a stupid quiz. The Unabomber was a Harvard graduate (actually my father was in his class), and definitely a bright guy, though obviously very disturbed. There's nothing wacky about these particular quotes, so who cares whether Al Gore or Kaczynski said them? I imagine it wouldn't be hard to isolate 10 reasonable-sounding quotes from Jim Jones, Hitler, or Saddam Hussein either.

Stupid people make connections between things that are unrelated, of course because they are stupid, and because they have stupid motives that drive them. For example, a fool might with to tar Al Gore with a Unibomber brush by showing similarities in now they view certain things. Al Gore may think the sky is blue and if the Unibomber says the same thing than all kinds of fools will gather around and say see, 'Al Gore and the Unibomber are one.' Al Gore really is the Unibomber. This happens when a mind filled with self hate is directed by conformistic pressures to target that hate away from himself and onto some other thing, like Al Gore. If a stupid person can convince himself that Al Gore is the Unibomber who killed people he can justify his hate. This makes the fool very happy. He doesn't have to notice his tremendous inner pain because his life is suddenly oh so self important. He becomes a savior to all humanity out to save us all from the evil Al Gore. But of course because such thinking is very stupid and transparent to boot, it doesn't really work very well. It does doubtlessly, however, excite other fools.

For thinking human beings the way to compare things is not to look at what people say, but at how they want to change things the see as being true. The Unibomber wanted to kill people and terrorize them to awaken by the fear of death, but Gore tries to change things by lecturing and raising people's consciousness.

IIRC, Kaczynski has a near 200 IQ, is considered a mathematical genius, and was a university professor before shutting himself off from society.

Fred Phelps once was a supporter for Al Gore. What does that say? Nothing.

Yeah... but the guy who built this quiz managed to isolate 10 resonable-sounding quotes from Al Gore. Do you realize how much research that must have taken? Impressive.

But look how ineffectual he was compared to this administration: 3 American deaths compared to well over 3,000 and gaining 100+ a month.

As inspiration, Mein Kampf > algore

Hey! From Al Gore & the Unibomber to Iraq in only 11 posts. Maybe we should start a contest to see who can get from the most non-Iraq related OP to Iraq in the shortest amount of time.

Further evidence that gives me confidence in the future. No matter how stupid the start, Intelligence eventually asserts itself.
