Question Unglugging hdmi cord from pc gpu to nintendo switch and in reverse has made my thinkvision monitor temporaly nonfunctional

Why is this? After a few hours the monitor becomes functional again. Will i have this problem with a newer monitor thats getting shipped here in a few days?
