Hello guys and girls,
I am taking my girlfriend to Las Vegas for New Years holidays. We are going to visit all the famous places around including the Grand Canyon, Hoover dam, etc. I plan to propose to her there and I want to do it with style. I plan to get her on a one of those helicopter tours and propose at the bottom of Grand Canyon. Haven't figured it out yet. I am looking for advice 🙂.

Thank you.

i would think the top of the canyon would be a nicer scene than the bottom

Yes, I would think the top...at sunset

I've only ever seen ads for them (I drove out this summer, so I didn't need a tour)

They make a great description:
Now it’s time for what you’ve been waiting for: The South Rim Grand Canyon sunset. Get out your blanket and cameras for a comfortable, front-row seat of what is to come. Your tour guide sets the scene with relaxing breathing techniques and stories about the history of the Grand Canyon sunset. You will feel calm and at peace before the show starts.

This sunset doesn’t disappoint. Watch in awe as the explosive colors dance upon the Grand Canyon cliffs and the canyon walls become a glowing rainbow of oranges, rusts and reds. As the sun dips closer to the horizon, greying shadows swallow up entire gorges. After the sun sets upon the South Rim Grand Canyon, sparkling stars come out to play. Without the city lights, the night sky is brilliant with countless constellations.

My biggest concern is the helicopter company. I am trying to figure out the best one that will have champagne and stuff. There are some website that give you information like http://www.helicoptertours.info , but I need some opinion from people that have done this before.

You should invite all the ATOT members, we definitely would add to the ambience.

You're paying for our transport BTW.

If successful, we're going to need a picture of you and your fiancee in the Grand Canyon with her holding a sign that reads "Yes, ATOT I said 'Yes'".

i took a tour there last year with sunset tours out of vegas. it left around 7am i believe, or we had to be there that early, i forget. but they picked us up from our hotel in a limo to bring us there.

the price was like $380 a person i think.

however, we had a hiccup in our trip...

when we got there it had been raining, and it started to rain during the helicopter tour. and literally as we were flying over the wall to get into the grand canyon, it looked like the perfect storm that we were flying right into. so we had to make a uturn and head back.

the good thing was, they refunded us 100% of the money. so we basically got a 90 minute helicopter ride for free over lake meade and the hoover damn. it was still a cool experience, and i wish we could have gone into the grand canyon to get out and stuff, but safety came first. we couldn't reschedule either because of the time left that we had. but they were really good about refunds, and actually gave EVERYONE a refund. there were like 4 or 5 helicopters full of 4-5 people in each. that is a lot of money they lost, but part of the business.

word of advice - ask if you can sit in the front. they sit people based on weight distribution, and i asked about sitting up front when i called and booked. and thankfully they let my wife and i sit up front. sitting on the right side where the door is in the front was awesome, because you have like a bubble door that wraps around, and you can see below you a bit. the people in the back, especially the middle, probably saw a lot less than i did.

definitely an awesome experience, and my wife and i already said, next time we go to vegas, we're going to do it again and make it to the grand canyon.

Do they actually take the helicopters down to the bottom of the Canyon? I thought I had read that they are not permitted to fly "in" the canyon at all.

Parts of the canyon are administered by an Indian tribe that allows people to fly into the canyon.

GoPro it if you can, it's worth the memories. Proposed to my +1 a few weeks ago out of a small airplane with 6' letters asking her to marry me in an open field. Was definitely worth it!

Good luck :beer;
