Last week, I attended the Arizona CLassic Jazz Festival in Chandler, AZ, and spent 3.5 days shooting musicians, and events. I had just loaded the car to return to Tucson. All was secure. Then I heard a fairly loud "woooosh" sound above me. Darn! I looked up and there was a hot air balloon right overhead.

I quickly opened the car, dug out the camera, removed the lens cap, and zoomed out to fill the screen. I took about a half dozen shots - and this is one of them.

Balloon

I almost forgot my wife was waiting to go to breakfast. Moral of the story is, you never know when a target will appear. :)

Cool. I see unexpected pop up from time to time - just walking around looking at stuff as I go by thinking "that would be a pretty cool picture, I wish I had a camera with me."

And that is not the end of the story - when I finished shooting that one - two more appeared overhead - but they were higher up. Still, they were fun. Here's another:

Balloon 2

And then one more - my wife was now calling me.

Balloon 3

I suppose they could all be layered into one picture with PS.

Someday I really would like to ride in one and take aerials of people and stuff down below.
