Unexpected motherboard replacement

I have a P45 Biostar T-Force I45 that has a failing/damaged sata controller it would seem. I see that it is still highly regarded at newegg, should I get another one or should I step up to a better board or chipset? Any advice would be really helpful as I didn't expect to have to do this. Thank you.
