So here I am confused and bewildered. Right now I am looking at 1 & 2 and the idle temps on the two cores are 10C apart. Cores 0 & 3 are only 4C apart. Core 1 is is highest core, and is about 3C over 1.

I have the current temps on idle

31 / 34 / 24 / 27.

Under load with P95 we get up to MAX

57 / 59 / 55 / 57.

This is all being overclocked with a 9 x 333 / 3.0Ghz. Got a 9500 cooler on there.

I'm just a little lost. Things are completely stable, I stressed it for 16 hours with no problems or errors whatsoever. But I am interested, does that difference seem any different to you?

I am thinking of resetting the HSF. But the temps arnt high. Thinking of re doing the AS5, and seeing what happens. But other than that everything is good.

Thoughts / Suggestions?

I popped the heat spreader off my Opteron 165 because of a similar issue, only to slightly damage part of my CPU (it still works thankfully).

My cores still don't report the same temperature, and I'm held back by one of them which won't pass Prime95 at 2.7ghz. AFAIK there isn't anything you can do about it. It's normal.

Q6600 G0 here and what you say has plagued me from day one. I actually ended up lapping my CPU and the TRUE I use on it and it still had differences UP to 10c at idle. While on load however, they all max out almost the same so at least that is good.

In most cases, and on my end, my first core, 0, is always the hottest. 1 is just below that... 2 is way low and 3 is close to 1. I sanded that ah heck down so many times to get that even surface till I honestly could say it was perfectly flat and still no love -- hence it's got to be the way the actual cores are situated.

Had a qx9770 that had 2 cores that always reported 24c while the others were around 40c and even at load it was still way off.

Don't worry about it if your idle temps are off. Worry more if it is your load temps that are significantly different.

I seriously need to have mark sticky this statement:

NEVER LOOK AT IDLE TEMPS TO JUDGE SYSTEM.

Why?

Ready for my 100 word essay?

1. Idle temps doesnt mean jack. because something stupid in the background that your not aware of can hike up your cpu processes and make one of your cores uneven.

2. idle temps is only good when you look at stock settings NOT overclocked. Even then its still sketch.

3. Ambient can massively fiddle with idle temp, so idle temp is worthless.

4. blah, i dont want to bore you, but i can go more into it.

You look at load temps. Because load means 100%. Which means ALL your cores are doing work.

This is the only way you can test your mount, and system. Load temps also show how hot your processor is, which is important.

Looking at your load temps, they look good, so dont freak out!
