Unemployment. "Voluntarily quit". If I list this reason will I get denied?

In short, hell yes!

Many people especially younger ones are very confused about unemployment. Typically it is for those who had a job and simply got laid off because the company was cutting back etc.

edit: Employers have to pay a certain percentage of your unemployment and almost always they will try to fight you getting unemployment because its basically money out the window for them.

You voluntarily separated from your employment.

Unemployment benefits are for people who involuntarily (as in laid off) separate from their employment.

So, the answer is yes, you will be denied benefits.

you can only get unemployment if you are fired or laid off, and if you are fired it has to fall withing guidelines or some junk

friend got fired from her job when she said she woudl be leaving in 2.5 MONTHS, more then enough lead time to fine someone, they fired her, she got 2.5 months of unemploment

Yup, this is accurate.

The simplest breakdown:

You quit: You will get denied for sure.
You get laid off: You will get approved for sure.
You get fired: You might get approved. This is a case by case basis.

A few years ago I left a job because I was promised a job with another company, that job never materialized. I filed for unemployment and told them exactly what happened and I was approved. I was surprised, but I was.

Apply anyways. You will be approved. You may have a delay before your benefits start of several weeks and then they will probably cut your benefit amount in half, but you'll probably get approved. I had a similar incident happen to me.

If you work for a large chain company you're in very good luck. They contacted my employer by mailing a letter to the store that I had worked at. Since the manager can't deal with it technically, he had to forward it to the company HR person who didn't respond within 7 days.

I so totally could have lied and gotten the full benefits.

As stated above, there will be a much longer waiting period.

Also, if you are going to school, or intend on going to school, you will be disqualified.

Even if you get fired in most instances you only loose several weeks of benefits.

Unemployment really helped me, its a great program, don't defraud it.

I got unemployment when I was fired from a very large corporation last year. The process was very long and frustrating but it definitely helped. According to my state, you can only get unemployment after quitting your job it you can prove a valid reason for doing so.

i think these programs are run by the states, so each state may have variances in the rules
you could maybe ask the people that run the program vs. ATOT

Just tell them that it was a horrible place to work. You don't have to stay in a bad situation. You can quit a job and get unemployment if the job is a bad job, or your boss is an asshole. Just be prepared to prove everything you say.

And sometimes the proof isn't even enough. For example, my cousin had his cube moved to a smaller one under a heating vent that turned the cube into a furnace. He lodged a few complaints with management then quit, had paperwork on everything, yet still was denied. If you voluntarily quit, don't expect unemployment.
