Go back to work Tues. Was off from the last week of Dec. Had $400 a week vacation 🙂 7 weeks total ... ahaaaa ... nice ... lol 😉

Went to LA to help move my brother in-law up to Tacoma and just been kicking back every week sleeping when I want / getting up went I want even started going to 24hour fitness every day. ... you know the drill ... SLACKER TIME ! 😀

Might have to opt for that next winter as well. My work lays off every year in Dec/Jan/Feb about 20 workers. Bottom 20 get the ax usually but I pulled seniority and took it for the first time in 13 years there. It's always been an option here. Per union contract.

Back to work slacker !

First time "getting up" is goin to be a killer.

I collected 64 weeks of unemplyment in the early 80s and got 45 weeks of 95% of my pay when my plant closed in '86.

It took GM over 2 years each time to call me back.

So you're going back to work for the same people who laid you off? If so, that's not a healthy manpower allocation for your company...layoff in Dec, hire back in Feb?

Yes it is. The level of business falls off in those months. And all these workers laid off will come back to their regular positions ( no new hires ). When the business drops off they don't need that workforce. Plus the company saves $$ for not having to pay-in to the Union monthly " health and welfare " ( per contract ) about $800.00 per worker per month. Otherwise the Company would have to guarantee 40 hours per week to those laid off workers ( @ $20.00 hr ) + pay the pention plan ( Health and Welfare ) all together per worker @ $4000 gross per month when they don't need them.

it happens... i know a guy from a Brokerage that was laid off after about 4 yrs...

got a big package and unemployment..

guy was in IT, no colllege degree... hung out at home with mom for about 10 months,
no expenses, all play, sleep....
then my group was in a bind, and my boss, for whatever reason, called him in, and he was rehired in 2 weeks.

then in a few months he stank up the place.
