Undoing/redoing partitions in WinXP.

This is a new install. I got two 320gig drives, but I generally don't use much for programs. When I first installed, I partition a 50gig and the remainder of disk 0 for data. Disk 1 would be entirely data. However, the install didn't go as planned and the 50 (C🙂 is a system partition and E: is a boot partition (with the OS).

Now, I'm thinking I may want 100gig on D0 for OS and program and the rest for data.

I just don't know how to redo the partition sizes. I've been looking over MS site, but I can't find anything on redoing partitions and reinstalling.

1) back up your stuff onto Disk 1, then shut down and unplug its data cable.

2) start Windows Setup and nuke both partitions on Disk 0, then press the F3 key twice to exit Windows Setup

3) start Windows Setup again, make your 100GB partition, format it, install Windows on it. Worry about the second partition later.

4) After Windows is set up, go to Disk Management and make your other partition. Then shut down, hitch up your other drive and (if necessary) go to Disk Management to get it adopted by the mothership 🙂
