Undo Win7 WinMail hack

I've been resisting installing Windows Live Mail and downloaded a small app which I believe altered the registry and overwrote the Win7 msoe.dll with the Vista version to enable the hidden WinMail in Windows 7.

However I have now had to give in as my system keeps failing the install of SP1. Googling shows that the error code generated is likely caused by this "hack".

I've successfully installed and am using Windows Live Mail but can't find any info on undoing the WinMail enabling hack to allow SP1 to install. I've copied the msoe.dll from an unhacked Win7 machine but still can't get SP1 to complete.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You're gonna have to look up and manually reverse the specific registry changes that were made, and also replace that msoe.dll from vista with one from a legitimate Windows 7 install. Safest way to do that is to install Win7 from your media in a virtual machine and copy the DLL, or pull it from another PC you own. I would not download the DLL from the internet.

After those things and a restart you should be back to stock settings and OK to update.
