I wanted to buy a new underwater digital camera. I checked it out with Nikon and I thought of buying it. But when I came across Canon and asked about underwater digital cameras, there has been some issues about it. Anyone who has experience with this stuff?

How "underwater" do you want? For very shallow depths, read here. Pentax also has a new W90 announced.

If you're looking for something deeper, but compact, then Canon makes nice housings for a lot of their cameras.

If you're looking for professional quality waterproofness, then you'll need to look to housing manufacturers like Ikelite.

This is strictly tongue-in-cheek. :) What I did was get a BIG waterproof enclosure, i.e., an observation submarine.

It was a bit cramped, but the windows were big and cleatr. At 50 feet down, there is very little color, even on a bright sunny day. The focus of this was to show the windows and the light color;

And, as a result you can see a lot of things like this - but notice the color.

Underwater i shots are a tradeoff to get decently fast shutter speed. Higher ISOs are often needed. The deeper one goes, the darker it gets.

Happy diving! :)
