undervolting

My CPU continues to become more and more hotter. Typically it stays at around 65 C (Epox 8K3A+, I hear they have wild temp readings). Anyways I've learned the joys of undervolting. I currently have my XP 2600+ non-barton (2.08 gHZ) down to 1.5 volts from 1.65 and this is definitely helping in lowering the temperature. I am guessing that this is a 65 watt to 50 watt per hour change for the cpu.

I don't think their is, but is their any danger in undervolting cpus?

Nope...none that I know of. You're lowering the voltage AND heat, and that should theoretically extend the life of the chip.

i agree with blue weasel. i am running my mobile barton 2500+ at 1.1v 6.5*200, so it now stays at about 3C above ambient. just make sure that it is p95 stable at the lower voltage, the maximum clock will go down with the voltage. and if your cpu is getting hotter, than try replacing the fan on it and make sure the hsf is not clogged with dust.

whatever, what is your motherboard that lets you reduce the core voltage down to 1.1V?
