Undervolting my Sempron 64.

I've got a Palermo Sempron 3000+ s754 that I replaced in one of my systems recently and have a test bench setup for overclocking. I already knew it could do 2.7GHz and played with voltages of up to 1.75 with no extra headroom.

So I got bored with that and decided to undervolt. I found that at 1.1v it is Prime95 stable at the stock 1.8GHz! With a low fan speed on my aluminum Arctic Cooling HS/F, I was able to keep it at room temperature without underclocking or scaling!

Also, when it is not under load, I can run it without the fan at all and it only gets up into the low 30's C.

Of course, this is not in a case, I'll have to test it further there and see how it goes.

Hopefully you guys thought this was interesting. Any other undervolting stories?

That is good news. Thanks for the thread - I was wondering about that too...
How low could you undervolt it while underclocking it?

nj.

i love my undervolted turion too :)
but there is one downer though: chipset´s of nf3 and nf4 are gettin ways too hot for passive cooling :/
still my hdd´s will produce more noise than the rest of the rig

I tried lower speeds, but it didn't want to do anything below 1.1v. I think I got it just a little under 1.1v, but not below 1v. I didn't see a point in keeping it there. I can't remember the exact results because it wasn't worthwhile.

My server is an undervolted mobile P4, running at around 1.18v (default 1.3v) and overclocked to almost 2GHz (default 1.6GHz).

I just sold my Sempron 2600+. I was undervolting it in my HTPC at default clocks and around 1.15v or so, using a Biostar Tforce6100.

EDIT: Forgot to add that another notch or two below that in voltage and it just won't POST, but at that voltage was stable.

Nice, i would be really interested to see how it fares in a case, under load. Its been ages since a passive cpu has been a viable option from AMD or Intel, excluding geodes etc.
