Can an underpowered power supply cause lockups?
I'm running a dual pIII setup with too many drives and fans for a 275w power supply, but the setup was working fine for 2 years.
I recently rewired my fans to run at 7v rather than 12v and now it crashes almost immediately and sometimes even fails to reach the mobo bios. Does running the fans at 7v affect anything? could I have done a poor job of re-wiring making a faulty connection? is my power supply just getting old?
Both cpus run fine individually. Unplugging all the optical drives does not affect anything.
