my sister got a grant from her school (berkeley) to study holocaust art, and give a 10 minute presentation at the end of the summer. to help her accomplish this, her school is giving her $2500 for... well, who the fvck knows? she said she'll go to ny for a week, then to dc, but basically whatever she feels like doing. if she wanted to do the entire project on her computer from home, or the local library, that would be fully acceptable and just make her $2.5k richer. and since it's the same topic as her senior thesis, she's getting double mileage out of it. makes me wish i went to a school that gave out cash like candy for no real reason 😛
 
lol, I know how you feel.

My gf had a $3000 travel grant as part of her scholarship, if you can come up with a vaguely coherent topic they almost always grant it. She spent two weeks in Guatemala over winter break and her spring break in Denmark "researching" the zoos there.
