Underclocking 9500NP to 140/140 and lower?

Default is 276 core and 270 memory. I can OC it to 380 for the core but run at 370 as a safety net and memory haven't tested.

Is it safe to underclock to 150, 140, or lower for the core and memory? Mine is currently running at 140/140 and no artifacts in 2D and 3D. It seems perfectly fine. I really don't need it to run at default when using 2D. My case and CPU temp actually dropped a few degrees. Only thing that I notice is that going from default to 140/140 is okay, but from 140/140 to default or higher results in a split-second screen distortion (a few vertical lines flashe but disappear immediately).

Don't see why it would hurt anything, nVidia already does this automatically with their's... I use to set the GPU speed in 2D on my FX5900 to 75 MHz I believe...

Okay, now it's set to 65 MHz for the GPU and 135 for the memory. Anything lower than 60, then I would have artifacts for 2D and 3D. And memory going lower than 130 results in artifacts too. I used ATI Tool 0.0.20 for the artifact testing although I'm not if it's reliable or not. Gaming is set to go back to default in 3D, and back to 65/135 in 2D. Maybe that will cut down the heat produced and power consumed :D since I don't play game often.

I do it on my laptop with a Mobility 9600 and ATI Tool. I can only get it down to 75\100 (200DDR) though.
