Yos. I've got a BFG 6800 GT OC, and it's been underachieving...for lack of a better term. I'm getting the same framerates that i was with my 9800 Pro, it's almost like i didn't upgrade at all. In some games it's actually much noticeably worse than my 9800 Pro. I can't figure this out, i've tried everything i can think of.

Yes i ran driver cleaner in safe mode and got rid of all of the ATI drivers previously to installation of the card

Yes i have the latest Nvidia drivers

My Power supply is an Enermax 420w

No I don't want to format or reinstall XP

Got us all skipped ahead now :D

Like i said i've tried everything i can think of, i'm about ready to stick my 9800 Pro back in. Any other (non sarcastic) ideas?

Make sure you removed all of your ATI drivers using something like Drive Cleaner, then do a reinstall of the nVidia drivers. You might check out nVnews.net for more troubleshooting.

Like i said i already uninstalled and cleaned out the ATI drivers using driver cleaner.

There's something wrong with it for sure though.

What are your temps? Did you try different drivers? (I strongly recommend XG 76.50) , Chipset drivers correctly installed? Fastwrites on/off? Volatge in the 12V rail?

Report back with all of this ;)

Your going to want to up your system RAM to 1GB. Otherwise you will most likely have a lot of harddrive activity (thrashing) to continuously write data that your RAM doesn't have room for.

A 6800GT takes a heck of a lot more juice to run than a 9800pro. Make sure your GT has a dedicated power supply line ALL to itself. No peripherals (Hard drives, CDrom, Fans etc.) should share this line. Look on your power supply sticker and see what your AMPS are for the 12V+ rail. If its 18A or under, you may want to consider a new PSU with at least 30A on the 12V+ rail. They are commonplace these days.. If you have an extensive amount of fans/lights or other crap running in your case, unplug them to reduce the draw of power from the PSU.

And please don't say "Yos" anymore. ;)

CPU temp is 38 idle, the 6800's temps are 63 GPU and 44 Ambient. Chipset drivers are installed correctly as much to my knowledge. My 12v Rail goes from 11.77 to 11.9. Not sure about fastwrites.

I'll take a look at my power supply. I've tried the forceware drivers and they were really bad for some reason, the temps on the card went up a lot and game performance was a good deal worse. I've been trying to get 1 GB of ram for a while now, but have been having bad luck, i'll have to RMA a stick today. I won't say Yos anymore :( - I'm going to put my 9800 Pro back in later today probably, unless i can get my GT working well.

Nah, just return your 6800GT and forget about it.
