Under what conditions would you break a contract?

This is a continuation of a discussion yesterday about Miss America talking about abstinence after signing a contract saying see would adopt a platform on youth violence.

I don't know if what she signed precludes her from speaking on abstinence but I think it raises some interesting questions about the nature of contracts and the morality of abiding by them.

The contract wasn't broken. There is nothing in the nature of a platform that precludes one from speaking on other topics. Technically, all she has to do is come out against youth violence by saying "I am against youth violence." a few times and she's got a platform.
