Under volt my Panaflow L1As?

I'm thinking about under volting my 2 Panaflow L1A intake fans in my Lian Li 6070. Right now those 2 Panaflows seem to be the biggest source of noise in my system. Other components include an Alpha PAL8045 with a sunon fan that normally operates at 2200 or so RPM's until the temp hits 55+C which is pretty rare. 2 Maxtor Diamond Max series drives, a Radeon 9500 pro, Tagan 380 watt PSU and a passively cooled Northbridge.

I'm pretty pleased with the system as it is, I mean the loudest component is pair of 1900 rpm panaflows so that?s not too bad I guess. Overall do you think it?s worth the effort or if undervolting them will compromise air flow too much?

I forget if your case has the L,M,F fan controller beneath the front bezel or not. My PC-65 does, and I use that for my 2 panaflos. At 7V, the noise they make is much much less. Almost cant hear it. I cannot hear it from 7-8 feet away. Also, I removed the dust filter too. That increased air flow tremendously. I dont have my case on the floor anymore so dust is less of a problem now.

No, it dosn't but I'm running all the fans off the motherboard headers anyway. Another thought I had was to get some differant fans that support RPM monitoring and let my board dynamicly control those fans as well. That way I could control the fans based on HD temp, case temp or a combination. I have no idea what fans to use though, i heard NMB's are good but I can't find them anywhere.

Yeah, the NMB's and Acoustifans are kinda hard to find. I havent been able to find them myself.

Do you know relatively how hot your HDDs get? If they are only warm, then you probably can drop the Panaflos to 9V or 7V no prob. If you dont have tools to monitor the temp of the HDD, you can always do it the old fashion way by grounding yourself and then touching the surface of the HDD to see if it is hot.

Also, what sorta exhaust fan do you have?

Well I was able to find some Acoustifans but there were roughly $18.00 a piece so F that...

HD temp's are normally in the low 30's C on a warm day, the max temp I saw was 43C so HD temps aren?t really a problem. Still I was thinking it would be nice if to be able to control the intake fans based on the HD temps via speedfan. Finding the right fans is the only problem with that idea. As for the exhaust I have another LIA but I don't notice that one as much. Most likely because it has much easer path of air flow especially since I cut away the grill and replaced it with a wire one "coolermaster style".

I am using speedfan for my CPU fan. I'd like to use it for the intake fans like I previously mentioned but the Panaflow's don't support RPM monitoring so there is no way to use them. And I don't know of any good places to get good replacements aka, Adda's, NMB's ect.

Why do you need rpm monitoring to use Speedfan? It will still vary the speeds based on temp readings. You just cant see what the actual rpm is. No big deal. Works fine with my L1A case fan. I find 65% is a good setting.

I paid $30 each for my Acoustifans... they're great fans though.

Great as in 3x as great as a Panaflow? I'm sure they are good fans, but in general a fan is pretty simple device and $30 is alot of money for something as simple as a fan. Maybe if I can find them cheaper?.., also do you know if they are manufactured by Acoustifan or are they re-badged?
