Washington is now 4-1 with crap for talent, relatively young team, and players who have been with 3 different head coaches.

Notre Dame is also 4-1 while playing a more difficult schedule. But here are some more facts.

1. Notre Dame had to come from behind to beat Georgia Tech and Michigan State, neither of which are all that good. Georgia Tech did beat Virginia Tech...but Virginia Tech isn't that great either.

2. Notre Dame is the 4th most penalized team in the nation. Washington is 94th.

3. Willingham is already having one of the best recruiting classes for Washington in years.

4. Washington passed for almost 300 yards and 2 touchdowns against one of the nation's best secondaries on the road at a conferance rival: Arizona. The previous week, Arizona held USC to 179 passing yards. USC did have over 200 yards rushing, but Washington had over 150 yards rushing as well. Washingon @ USC next week is looking pretty interesting.

5. Tryone Willingham doubled Washington's wins from the previous year in 2005, and has already doubled their wins from the previous year this year. Washington was also picked to finish last place in the pac-10 this year. At 4-1, and 2-0 in the conferance, I can only laugh. Great coaching.

Need I say more? Willingham went 7-0 his first year at ND...4 of them with victories over top-25 teams. Charlie Weiss went 5-2. The diffence? They decided to give Weiss a huge contract extension despite having played a weaker schedule than Willingham. Ha. I can only say that I'm glad Ty got fired. Now my Huskies are going to return to the top of the Pac-10 where they belong.

Oh, and I know I'm biased because I hate Notre Dame. :) Thoughts and opinions will be viewed with a very open mind :)

well...i agree. notre dame was way overrated. before they beat that crap penn state team this year, they hadn't beaten a top 25 team under weiss.

Notre Dame beat a #3 Michigan, a #23 Pitt, and a #22 Purdue under Wiess. So WTF are you smoking?

As for GATech, they will win the ACC this year.

Willingham won in his first season with someone else's talent. Then Willingham began to recruit and get his players and ND was the pits. Weiss had a good season last year with Willingham's crappy recruits. The more Weiss gets his players into his program ND will return to the top. A few more years, I'll say Jimmy Clausen's sophomore year, ND will be legit top 5. I'll admit though, ND is way overrated this year.

Lets analyze what you said.

"Willingham won in his first season with someone else's talent." - You could say the EXACT same about Charlie Weiss and his first year. So there goes that argument. In fact, there goes your whole argument. Most of Willingham's tenure at ND was WITH someone elses recruits. He literaly had to rebuild the broken down team from scratch. If you think Notre Dame will do well the next couple of years, it will be with ND's Seniors that were recruited by Willingham...if you wish to use that argument.

Not sure if agree that Willingham is better than Weis, but I would be happy to see Willingham succeed at Washington... for both himself and Washington's program.

well that's good to hear. i would hate him at the moment if he takes the coaching rein at rutgers (the state college of nj) despite he is a jersey native.

i'm glad greg schiano worked so hard to bring rutgers to the top and he's another jersey native. i'm hoping rutgers give schiano a huge contract extension so he can work to stop top jersey prospects from going anywhere else. :D

You're an idiot. GT is a very solid team, one of the best in the ACC (I know, that isn't saying much..but still).

lol #3 michigan? if i recall correctly, michigan finished that season outside of the top 25 :)

not to mention the wolverines trounced them in 2006

-edit-
the only reason people gave them so much credit is because they played usc close last year

I say look at the penalties. Weiss is obviously a great offensive mind, but going from one of the least penalized teams under Willingham to one of the most penalized teams under Weiss says a whole lot.

I think ND is overrated but I have to agree with the comment that with Clausen at QB in ND, a national title isn't too far out.

Why? I haven't even seen Clausen play. Seems like half the QB's that are hyped to do really well wind up failing.

Exactly. I'm not a big Vince Young fan (he'll bust in the NFL I'm sure), but Notre Dame showed they weren't very good last year especially in their bowl game.

A little early to be blasting Weis isn't it? He took a crappy ND team and made it respectable after only a couple years. Give the guy a little more time.

Weiss has exactly 1 more win than Willingham after 17 games.

on the current titans, anyone will bust.

no o line, no running game, nothing. i mean, they're not the raiders, but they've made bad move after bad move after getting into cap hell to make a run at the superbowl.
