Under the knife

hmmmm......Should I fret?

I am having 4, count them 4, wisdom teeth pulled today. Luckily it is a serious, albeit short, procedure performed by an oral surgeon so I will be out cold.:moon:

The afternoon will be full of sunshine 😀 and big furry teddy bears😉

By the way:

If I wake while anaesthetized and a hot nurse is having her way with me, how big of a tip should I leave?😀

Lol... poor bastard... may the force be with you.

-Max

P.S. I hope the nurse doesnt look like Rosie...

I had that done (all four), and I was awake the whole time. It was alot less scarier then I thought it would be.

ouch, been done to me... it hurt... it hurt soo bad
only done with a local

and think of it this way, its more likely that the oral surgeon will be having his way with you than a hot nurse

didnt hurt me too much at all.
it was more psychologically painful that, after days, i still couldnt really eat the food i was hungry for.
and when i did i had to take it so slow...everything was cold.
but yeah, as suggested, dont worry about it. you got painkillers.

They gave me Percocet.

That'd work too, see if you can get by on tylenol & save the good stuff for when you can really enjoy it 😉

I cannot do that. I have some hereditary condition (appearantly quite common) that has left them somewhat horizontal, so appearantly it is somewhat complicated.

Yeah, I think the term they use is "compounded", since that's what mine were...all 4 at the same time and I got codine afterwards. Didn't really use it though, only took one or two out of the entire bottle.

And sadly, that was before I knew to save the rest 🙁 😉

I mostly spent last summer taking care of a very ill aunt of mine. She had gone through surgery to repair a hernia more than 10 years ago in El Salvador, (her bladder or something), and it ruptured again last summer. Basically, she was in a sh@#load of pain, and I was in charge of taking care of her and her medication, transportation etc.

Basically, I've the "uplifting" effects of percocet, so I will make sure not to operate heavy machinery for a few days.😀

If you take the pills exactly on time, or even 20min. early each time... you will never feel a thing, other than a swollen jaw.

I had all 4 of mine taken out, and I was put to sleep. I never felt a thing, and actually went to work the same evening (had it done when I was 17).

I hade all four of my wisdom teeth pulled out, and I followed the Oral Surgeon's directions to the letter, I didn't eat solid food for 1.5 wks. I had NO pain. The day of the surgery, I took 1 dose of advil. After that, no drugs at all, and only pain when I poked at it (bad idea :thumbsdown😉

My friends don't believe me, and gripe about all the pain they had, but they were dummies, and tried to eat solid food on day 2.

Not quite sure. I've never been knocked out or anything. I haven't even had my wisdom teeth pulled. (Only two came in, and they came in straight) But I wouldn't worry; they know what they're doing.

They gave me some phenobarbitol(sp?) which is a barbituate and I was more drunk at age 16 than I have ever been in my life from alcohol. I remember getting out of the car when we got home and my mother had to almost carry me up the stairs. I stumbled immediately onto the trash can outside when I got out of the car. Oh, yeah, back to the actual teeth extractions. THey did all four of mine at once a couple of them were compacted so he had to cut them out. The MF hit a nerve on one of the teeth and I thought I was going to die for the next few days. You can get rid of pain with painkillers but you can NOT get rid of those damned neverending nerve sensations.

Just 4 pfft. I had 9 teeth removed when I had my wisdom teeth taken out. I had 5 extra teeth under my gumline.

i had all 4 taken out. they put me under for it. i was miserable the rest of the day. all the blood in my mouth and all that I swallowed made me really naseuos. Same thing with the painkiller (vicoprofen). I still took it, but I did not have a good time. it took almost 3 days for the bleeding to stop completely

😀 AHAHAHAHAHAHA...I don;t want to choke her now do I....

or do I? 😀 😉

I am terrified of the dentist. I make them gas me to the point of near hysteria. 😉

But it is not as painful as I thought, afterwards. The hardest part was not smoking... much. The pain pills are a big help. Just remember, it takes almost 6 weeks before it is fully healed.

Good luck, I dont envy you
🙂
