Under-provisioning on SSD vendors other than Intel - good idea?

I have a Crucal M4 SSD I'd like to deploy into my server. In the interest of longevity, I'd like to adhere to the rule of thumb of underprovisioning it by ~25%. I know that the Intel SSD logic will perform garbage collection and all that good stuff with all available non-provisioned space, but what about other vendors? Will my Crucial drive perform in the same fashion?

Thanks!

I think you mean *over* provisioning. And it's not really a rule of thumb to OP by 25% unless you are doing lots and lots of writes per day (20GB or more everyday). If not, it'd be a waste of space to OP that much. Moderate writes per day (10GB or less per day) I wouldn't OP any or maybe 10% max (since they are OP some by default). And yes, all modern SSDs have garbage collection feature built in.
