Unconfirmed address...Unverified...

I have been burned once before on Paypal, but it was like 2 years ago.

I had an auction with a Buy it Now. A (0) feedbacker bought it and paid via Paypal, which is fine.

Things telling me not to send it:
1. (0) feedback,
2. Unverified User (no linked checking acct)
3. Unconfirmed Address

What do you do? Ask for a telephone number and call them to verify?

They haven't done anything wrong... it's just very bad looking from my standpoint.

If the buyer had about 20+ feedbacks, and 0 negatives, then I might consider selling to them and their unconfirmed address. Still a risk.

But to a new eBay-er and an unconfirmed address, I would refuse to sell. That's just too shady. I know it's hard to reject a sale, but I think it's just the safest thing to do. How much was the sale for?

Unless you specified in your auction that you only ship to confirmed/verified address you're obligated to ship. Your only other option is to refund and explain your reservations to the buyer. Hopefully he/she will understand and not give you negative feedback or file a complaint with Ebay.

You've been paid haven't you? Ship his damn item. Just because he's new to paypal/ebay doesn't mean he should pay for items and not receive them.

I know he has done nothing wrong... but what happens when he says he never got it and reversed payment? I = 0wned.

Good idea!

Thanks!

You won't be covered under seller protection though since you aren't shipping to a confirmed address.

I'd tell them that you won't ship it unless they confirm their paypal account and paypal address or you will wait 2 weeks to make sure everything goes through.

Farnky: then, why not just return PayPal payment then ask him to pay with money order and say that you'll only ship to the address appearing on the money order?

Well, I sent out the $100 item at lunch... and got Signature Confirmation and Insurance on it.

This dude better not screw me.

How do those big eBay companies deal with it? The ones that sell like 100+ things a day. They can't possibly go through each one and decline payment if they are unconfirmed.

They have their account set to only accept payments for confirmed addresses.
