1. What is the authors central thesis or hypothesis?
2. What methodology does she use to study the problem?
3. How does the author define the problem
4. How does this work relate to other books?
5. What conclusions does the author reach?

I have to write a 4 page paper on the following questions regarding Uncle Toms Cabin....any input is greatly appreciated. I have a good idea on most of them, but i'd like your ideas to add on too....as i DO have quite a bit to write. Thanks.

PS Due tomorrow :D

1. What is the authors central thesis or hypothesis?
In Stowe's own words, "To illustrate the cruelties of slavery."

2. What mehtodology does she use to study the problem?
Didn't she write it in the guise of a children's storybook?

3. How does the author define the problem?
Sarcastically.

4. How does this work relate to other books?
It was originally published as a serial novel in an abolitionist journal named the "National Era".

I think the better question is how did responding works relate to this book. It spawned about thirty rebuttal novellas, the most notable being "Aunt Phillis's Cabin: Or Southern Life As It Is" by a Virginian (forget the name). Also the novel was redressed and acted out in plays, songs, pamphlets...

5. What conclusions does the author reach?
Slavery bad.

It's a good book, and the character of Uncle Tom is not at all like the current meaning of the insult.

That said, use Google if you're too lazy to do your homework.
