This douchebag liar posts a tweet about the Civil Rights Act court case yesterday referencing Clarence Thomas as Uncle Thomas. He eventually deletes it and issues an apology and claims he didnt know what Uncle Tom meant. Nevermind he got a History degree from Harvard. Apparently he knows little of history if he truely didnt know what Uncle Tom meant. Or a BA in History from Harvard isnt worth the debt it was printed with.

Don't you love the double standard the left goes by.

Paula Deen uses a racial slur years ago, admits to it, and then apologizes for it. She is eviscerated by the left.

This clown uses a racial slur just the other day, denies it, and then claims he didn't realized it was a racial slur. The left is silent.

Who cares what some anonymous legislator in BFE flyover country said, he was on the losing side anyway. Suck it, worthless Harvard history major.

I read about this on Huffpo and the general consensus in the comments was that his other "good works" outweighed this one slip up and hence he is forgiven.

Referencing Clarence Thomas as Uncle Thomas is nonsensical unless you are familiar with the term Uncle Tom.

But I guess its hard to keep up the "Republicans are racists" trope if Democratic racism was exposed huh?

Considering he's a state politician that most of us have never heard of, it's not exactly equivalent. If John Boehner and Bob from down the street say the exact same insensitive thing, Boehner will get more flack for it because he's better known. Obviously this man is full of shit if he claims he doesn't know the history behind the term "Uncle Tom". It's a stupid and racist comment and this man deserves to be eviscerated for it. But most of us don't live in fucking Minnesota and it happened yesterday, not like it's been ignored for weeks or something.

I am part of "the left" and think he should resign.

The spin factory is now open for business.....

I'll bet there are just as many who have never heard of Paula Deen.

Good. You are in the minority it seems.
Do not fret, the story just broke. This guy will be condemned by plenty of "leftists" and will resign. You can't say stupid shit like that when you hold a public position like he does.

I still believe Anita Hill 100%.
Thomas should not be allowed to sit in judgment of anyone, or anything, ever.
He needs to be brought up on sexual harassment charges.
And long overdue.

C'mon man, be realistic. Paula Deen is a nationally known celebrity. Ryan is a fucking state rep. Do you even know all of your state reps by name? I sure don't.

There are plenty of celebrities that people know nothing about. Especially if they don't have cable, the people that is.

I never claimed that there aren't people who haven't heard of Paula Deen. That would be a stupid claim. The fact is, many people in every state have heard of Paula Deen. Before today, hardly anyone has ever heard of this guy.

You are the one being dishonest. He did NOT claim he didn't know what Uncle Tom meant. He said he didn't realize some consider the phrase racist. That's not even close to the same thing. In fact, he openly stated he chose that phrase precisely because of what it signified, that Thomas should be especially sensitive to the racial ramifications of the VRA ruling.

I am absolutely sure that vastly more people have heard of Paula Deen than have heard of this guy. Probably several times over.

That being said, what a douche. Racism is never acceptable, but it's even worse when you come from a party that's specifically supposed to stand up against that sort of thing. Uncle Tom? Really?

BTW, a little known fact about Uncle Tom is that he is actually a heroic character in the book, not the obsequious servant that the slur would imply.

Don't you love people who talk and are ill informed.

The left is basically willing not to condem Dean for thing she said in the past. They are basically saying judge her on the present. Only the Food Network has reacted for the past. Your beef is with them.

As soon as I get an old clip I'm going to start a thread defending Dean.

Problem I have with Thomas is his hell bent furvor on killing a system that helped him get to where he is. Efforts would be better spent elsewhere. That and making a living kissing Scalias ass.

That doesnt make sense. If his claim is he didnt know that phrase would be taken as racist then how he can he knows what it means? Of course he knows what it meant and that makes him a lying scumbag.

Is it safe to assume that as usual you can't actually offer anything factual to support your assertion that "the left" eviscerated Dean? I ask because as far as I could tell, the only ones who seem to give a rat's ass about Dean are her corporate sponsors and the media who've breathlessly hyped this non-story. Does anyone else actually care? (Though in fairness, since I don't care about Dean, and don't care that she was forced to admit she used the 'n' word, I've ignored this "story" as best I could.)
