We have at my work an OC-48 line shared between about 600 computers (about 250 on at any given time), at DSL reports I show 4978down/4888up, bu from what I understand these test are not that reliable past 3MBps, so I want to find a test server that will show me the max I can download at, there is only one problem, I cannot download any files from my workstation, I.T will throw a fit

OK, I just have to say that you've got an amazing connection and that it's got to be torture not being allowed to download files using it.

Call your ISP and see if they have an FTP server somewhere or other internal test tools you can use. Maybe talk to your account rep. I've turned up a few OC3s and 48s - those dslreports and what not test sites are never very accurate above a few meg.

Also your firewall or router could be holding you back. A OC48 is pretty hefty and requires a boat load of router and firewall processor to get it up to speed.

I work at a Cingular wireless call center with 700 on-line reps, so all that bandwith is shared. It does suck not being able to download any files except from intranet sites where then it's over gigabit ethernet
