Unboxing a PS3 @ IGN

how come those discs are copies?

It's common for IGN to get a reviewer/debug kit that can only play burned disks. This allows the vendors to send them pre-release games.

Bah, PS1esque controller = teh lamer.

Seriously, Sony needs to put that turd out to pasture
why? it's more comfortable than any other controller I've ever used. (I'm talking about the ps2 version, ps3 version has the lower shoulder buttons set much lower so I can't comment on that.)

I'm pretty excited about the ps3. Not a launch, but at the first price drop. A blu-ray player for less than $600 and next-gen games? Seems like a bargain.

For pure gaming, it's way too much however.

The Playstation controller has always been my favorite, I like how they have kept it. And the PS3 sure looks pretty. That said I won't buy one due to its price.

I guess I'm weird.. the PS controller has always been the most uncomfortable controller I've ever used next to the original Xbox controller.

The main reason is they put the D-pad where the left analog stick should go (see: Dreamcast, Xbox, GameCube). Makes no sense. I also like the dimple on the analog stick. Gives me a better feel for where the center of the stick is, but that's more personal preference.

I think they have analog triggers on the PS3 controller fianlly... it's about time! Analog trigges are great for racing games.

I wanted to try the boomerang 🙁

me too 🙁
thats the thing, Sony wanted to try something different, and I am sure it was comfortable... but people backlashed against any kind of redesign, because they don't want to try something new compared to their classic design. to me, the dualshock2 style works, but I do prefer the x360's controller to any controller I have ever used. it feels so right in the hands, and perfectly weighted. almost got one for the computer.

This looks like a nice piece of sh!t!
How many times are they going to get away with recycling the same crap in a new box?? [yawn]

N64 or SNES controller FTW 😛

The N64 controller sucked a$$! The 360's controller is cool because it's USB and you can download windows drivers for it and use it on the PC too.

The Wii seems to have the most promise if it is indeed as interactive as it's purported to be.
