^ in this video Lew compares the backplates of the 6 and 6s by measuring the thickness of the material around the volume rocker for each.

The 6s backplate has about 80% more material than the 6 backplate. It's very likely that the 6s plus will have the same thickness of material in the same area for its backplate.

^in the above video. The properties of the different types of aluminum used in the 6 and 6s is briefly described and the backplates of the 6 and 6s are tested to see how much pressure is required to bend them.

As was hypothesized in the old thread about "bendghazi" in this forum the backplate of the 6s is stronger than the backplate in the iphone 6 released almost a year ago... a bit over twice as strong. Impressive.

I guess if you're an iPhone user the advice I would follow is wait until the "S" edition of their phones are released.

I think the question remains as to what the big scandal will be this time around.

They already had the antenna one, the camera one, and the bending one, and maybe one other that I don't recall. I think I'll go with a screen or finishing scratch issue. Some unimaginative nitwit can call it scratch-gate.

it would be a great toy but I doubt my neighbors would appreciate me sanding off the paint on their vehicles and holding this up to them.

eh, bend videos are entertaining and probably in this case more informative than some company blurb about a stronger phone chassis. And the result in the recent video was favorable to Apple imo.
